Privacy Policy
Plain-English summary of what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights as a California resident.
Summary (plain English)
We collect the information you give us (name, email, phone, job description, ZIP) to match you with handymen and run the platform. We use cookies and analytics to measure how the site performs. We don't sell your personal information. California residents have the right to see, delete, or correct what we hold. Full detail below.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide: name, email address, phone number, home ZIP or service address, description of the work you want done, photos you upload, and any messages you send to pros or to us through the platform.
Information collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, approximate geolocation derived from IP, cookies and similar identifiers. This is used for analytics, fraud prevention, and site performance.
Information from pros: when a pro you're matched with sends us information about the job (quote amount, status, completion confirmation), we store that against your request.
2. How we use it
- Match your request with qualified Los Angeles handymen.
- Send you quotes, messages, and job-status updates by email, SMS, or platform notification.
- Run the platform: analytics, performance, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution.
- Comply with legal obligations (tax records, warrants, subpoenas).
- Improve the product — aggregated, de-identified usage patterns inform our roadmap.
3. How we share it
With matched pros: your name, phone, service address, job description, and photos are shared with the 2–3 pros we route your request to. We share the minimum needed for them to quote and complete the job.
With service providers: hosting (cPanel/GoDaddy), analytics (Google Analytics 4), email delivery, SMS delivery, payment processor. These providers are bound by contractual data-protection terms.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.
Legal: we disclose data when compelled by a valid subpoena, court order, or law-enforcement request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm.
4. California residents — your CCPA/CPRA rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we've collected about you in the last 12 months.
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal retention exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell, but you can confirm this in writing).
- Limit use of sensitive personal information to what's needed to provide the service.
- Non-discrimination — we won't deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form with subject line "CCPA request." We verify identity before fulfilling and respond within 45 days.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies for essential platform function (login, session, fraud prevention) and for analytics (Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager if enabled). You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner. Disabling essential cookies may break functionality.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — if your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a CCPA opt-out request.
6. Data retention
- Quote requests: 24 months after last activity, then anonymized.
- Account data: retained while your account is active; 30 days after deletion request, then purged.
- Job records: 7 years (California tax/contract record-retention requirements).
- Support and dispute correspondence: 3 years.
- Server logs: 90 days.
7. Security
We use HTTPS on every page, encrypted backups, access controls on our database, and periodic third-party security review. No system is perfectly secure; if we detect a breach affecting your data, we notify you as required by California law (Civil Code §1798.82) within the legally mandated window.
8. Children
Shatun Brothers is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we post the new version here with a revised "last updated" date. Material changes are announced via email to registered users.
10. Contact
Questions about privacy, CCPA requests, or data issues: use the contact form with subject line "Privacy."
