Appliance install service: dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, range
Fridge that didn't fit the opening, dishwasher that leaked on day one, gas line the wrong size for the new range. A 15-minute measure and a proper hookup — not the $300 'delivery install' upsell.
What appliance install covers
DIY vs. hire — which makes sense for your job
When DIY works
Swapping a fridge or microwave on existing outlets is DIY if you can lift it. Dishwasher install is borderline: water + drain + electrical all in one tight cabinet. Stacked laundry, gas ranges, and dryer vent adjustments are often hire territory — gas appliance connection in particular is licensed-plumber scope in CA for any new or altered gas line.
When to hire
A pro brings flex lines, vent clamps, stacking kit hardware, and the knowledge to level + anti-tip properly. Most single-appliance installs: 30-90 minutes. Gas line work routes to our licensed C-36 partner.
Permit, license, and safety
Appliance installation is handyman scope for the standard swap-in install: new fridge into existing outlet, dishwasher into existing hookups, microwave into existing over-range space. No permit or license required when reusing existing electrical, plumbing, and venting.
Gas range and gas dryer connection: technically requires a licensed C-36 plumber with gas endorsement in CA for any gas line work under safety code. Most shops route gas-line work to licensed; simple flex-line reconnect on an existing valve is often done as handyman under the $500 cap, with liability held by the installer.
