What LA appliance install covers
Buying an appliance is the easy part. Installing it correctly — with the right water line, proper vent, level floor, anti-tip bracket, and code-compliant gas line — is where many DIY installs go wrong. We see the aftermath: flooded kitchens from loose dishwasher couplings, dryer fires from lint-packed flex vents, gas ranges never tested for leaks.
Our LA pros handle: dishwasher install, washer/dryer setup (including stacking), refrigerator install (including ice-maker water line), microwave mounting, range hood venting, wine fridge cabinetry. Gas appliance connection is handled by licensed C-36 plumbers; everything else is handyman-level.
What we install
How it works
Model + dimensions, existing rough-in (water, gas, vent, electrical). Photos help — we flag surprises before arrival.
Handyman for electric + water + vent. C-36 plumber for gas range, gas dryer, gas water heater.
Most single appliances 1–2 hrs. Over-range microwave or dishwasher with new line 2–3 hrs. Test cycle before we leave.
Los Angeles specifics
Gas appliances (CA code): gas range / oven / dryer connections must be made by a C-36 licensed plumber with gas endorsement in CA if any line work is involved. Flex-line swap on existing gas valve is handyman-legal if <$500 scope; full gas-line install or repair is not.
Dryer vent routing (LA apartments + condos): many LA apartments have dryer vents routed 10–30 ft through walls. Flex vents clog with lint and cause fires; rigid metal vent is CA code. We replace flex with rigid where possible and add a lint sock at the external exit.
Washer/dryer stacking in small LA closets: LA 1940s–60s homes often have a small laundry closet built for a side-by-side pair. Swapping to a stacked washer/dryer needs the brand-specific stacking kit + level floor + water supply relocation occasionally. We plan before install.
Refrigerator water line: ice maker + water dispenser need a 1/4" water line from the shutoff (usually under kitchen sink). We install a saddle tap or tee valve, run the line, leak-test. Some LA condo complexes restrict saddle taps in favor of tee valves — we follow HOA rules.
Anti-tip brackets for ranges (CA required): free-standing electric and gas ranges require anti-tip brackets per CA code. Most come with the bracket but don\'t get installed because DIY installers skip the step. We install; mandatory step.

Frequently asked questions
My new dishwasher from Costco — can you install?
Yes — very common. Standard replacement (existing water line, drain, outlet): 60–90 min. New install where no dishwasher existed before: 2–3 hrs with cabinet cut-out + plumbing + electrical routing. If the home has never had a dishwasher, a licensed plumber runs supply + drain.
How do I get my water line to my fridge for the ice maker?
Standard: saddle tap into the cold water supply under the kitchen sink, 1/4" poly tubing run to the fridge location. For condos with restricted rules: tee valve instead of saddle tap. Typical install: 45–90 min + line run distance.
Is my LA apartment's dryer vent safe?
Probably needs a check. Lint fires are a top cause of apartment fires in LA. If the vent flex-line is white or silver mylar (not rigid aluminum), replace it. Exterior cap should have a lint guard. We do dryer vent replacement as standalone service.
My gas range needs a C-36 — can you coordinate?
Yes. Our C-36 partners install the gas connection, pressure-test, leak-test with soap solution. We install the anti-tip bracket, level the unit, verify electrical. Typical total: 1.5–2.5 hrs with both pros.
Can I stack my existing washer and dryer?
Depends on the models. Most front-load pairs from the same brand have official stacking kits. Top-load washers can't be stacked. If the kit is available, we install (with a level floor + anti-tip + secured vent). Budget the kit + install $160–280 total.
Over-the-range microwave — vent outside or recirculate?
Vent outside is code-compliant and better; recirculating leaves cooking humidity in the kitchen. If your current microwave vents externally, we reconnect. If it's recirculating only (no exterior duct), we can't add a new vent without cutting wall + roof — that's a contractor scope.
My old fridge has a bent copper water line — replace it?
Yes. Kinked copper lines restrict flow and can leak. We replace with new braided stainless flex line; standard replacement in every fridge install.
